A teacher is one who not only teaches the subject of his expertise but also infuses good values, understanding and love for that subject which gradually seeps in our mind just like the subdued flame and the strong fragrance of the joss sticks which waft in the air gradually. He or she dons a role that is impeccable and unsurpassable,a model of extreme perfection and adulation which every student wants to emulate at some point of time.
A shy, tender girl of tenth grade had the chance of tutelage under a perfect teacher who used to teach Maths and Science .A retired old gentleman of 60 something started teaching as a passion to occupy his
valuable time. This valuable time delivered invaluable knowledge to those pupils who had the privilege to attend his tuition classes.I being one of them, touched the same note with much compassion and love.
A true confession of my soul would be to agree that Maths had been a weak point at the successive high rise of my life, followed by a deliberate and unequalled passion for Biology,Chemistry,English and Geography .The dusky turrets of the majestic castle touched with the gloom of darkness, the spewing cascade meandering through the tiny brook at the sunny valley while the prince meet the princess for a happy marriage ever after often marvelled me from the pages of "fairy tales".Was this liking instumental in shaping my future choice of career, the naive brain of the teenager was never fraught with such dusky thoughts.
Like a true teacher,my "Sir" taught me Maths with compassion and understanding. The dark holes of space with bombastic names likes decimals, algebra, theorem and trigonometry that have often conjured up shapes of devils and demons that tried to gobble me up during the time of exam, seemed to become less frightening and painful. The deep-seated fear of Maths was finally conquered by my courageous self that earned me a reasonable grade in the board exam .
It was my teacher who helped me in this journey of education, whose indelible impression is still imprinted on my mind ,without erasing those memories as the teenager matured into a women.
My admiration, acknowledgement and gratitude can never be enough to fill the crevases of emotion and passion that you have showered on me.So I just want to tell you "Thank You teacher for everything"

ELEMENTAL INDEPENDENCE
India celebrated its 68th Independence Day with the usual parade,President's oration and jubilation all over the country. The continuous development of this sovereign, democratic country from a troubled nation with multifaceted problems to a global hub for economic venture is a criterion significantly important. While the world watched the celebration of Independence on television, internet, read the reviews on newspaper excluding the resident citizens of India who partially or impartially participated to establish the spirit of national integration and brotherhood.
The scenario of such spirits away from India seems a rare occasion unless you happen to be in a place attributed with the title of "mini India".Such strong comments actually evolve as I happened to celebrate Independence Day at a condominium in Singapore with a spirit more Indian than stately. This condominiun is pot of cultural mix as people from different states of India mostly reside here, apart from the indigenous natives of Singapore itself. To ignite the spirit of Indian nationalism among the children of the prevalent NRIs here, the committee of few members organized the Independence Day celebration encompassing the five elements of Nature namely Fire,Air,Space,Water and Earth. Each element formed a team comprising of 11 families( a family consisting of 3- 4 members)who actually belong to mini India and showcased their theme which were involuntarily conscious effort for a better tomorrow . No where else can a true patriotic feeling be portrayed outside our nation than in Singapore.
The elemental galore was a magnificent spectacle to watch on this celebration day as the stage was rocked with raging fire, gurgling water, astronomical space, vitalizing Air and finally the bounteous Mother Earth.
Team FIRE upheld the outrageous effects of Fire that can cause damage and accidents to one's life and environment with the scope of slight mishandling apart from being prayed in the form of "Agni" who was the God of Fire as known from ancient history.
Teams AIR and WATER were equally proficient in their reflections of these elements of nature. While a pure, cool, refreshing breeze can pour in vitality when humanity is at the behest of scorching heat of the Sun, at the same time the cascade of crystal, clear water is synonymous to life during such days.Be it any weather these are the integral elements of our nature and no wonder that the teams depicted them entirely by bringing connection with Indian Air Force and freedom fighters. The importance of water also was shown as many freedom fighters were also denied a drop to quench their thirst.
One after another team was outdoing in this competitive round until remained the last two teams to perform their best.Team SPACE was spectacular in their performances as the patriotic spirit was set in the backdrop of space, with narrative inclusion by two junior artistes and one senior citizen who was modelled as "scientist Dadi".The theme revolved round the eight planets and the freedom fighters, clearly conveying the message of togetherness and brotherhood that had long been designed by our freedom fighters.
Finally arrived mother Earth and the only planet with Life to breathe in abundance and absoluteness to every living creature notwithstanding the caveat of destruction attached with global warming. This team verbally and thematically transgressed time and space, from past to present, from the patriotism and sacrifice of our freedom fighters to the danger of global warming and urbanisation.
The presentation of each team was packed with songs, melody, rhythm, synchronisation and discipline. Each of the team carved out a niche with their outstanding performances related to the respective elements so much so that it created a theatrical splendour to mesmerize the audience as well.Truly speaking, this meaningful event brought to the fore the latent talents of the adults and children equally.
Hope this spirit continues till time infinite, the rhythm beats with songs of herioc deeds and the heart sings out with soulful melody "JAI HIND"

The Sandman gave me dreams,of love and beauty, drawing up those pent up desires that ruffled sensations untouched ever...but where did they go...I woke up, teary-eyed, cowered down with the abysmal pain of nothingness and despondency calling out with all might.
Oh where art thou?Come back, come back...
Oh where art thou?Come back, come back...

DARK LOVE
Love is colourless and odourless because it is priceless. But for this love you pay the price of few bucks, just to deviate yourself from dishing out bigger amounts.Confused! So was I when the recent news was published in an article that eating a small to medium chunk of chocolate helps you to lose weight, only if it is ingested judiciously in the diet regimen.
Will Clower is a Neuroscientist whose book Eat chocolate Lose Weight, highlights this issue.According to him, chocolate consumption diminishes the hunger each day.His theory has also been proved correct after conducting few studies. The intake of this calorie enriched food actually reduces the appetite for other food.
"What we see in all these people is that the amount that they"re hungry for at the plate will drop by a half to a third ," he told CBS News Pittsburgh. "And the amount that they're hungry for,the amount of between-meal snacks that they have, will drop by about a half."
Through the book,DrClower has specified certain guidelines, specially treating chocolate lovers with a feast of dark chocolate whenever possible.According to him,the food value of dark chocolate outnumbers others as it protects against sunburn and cancer, provides energy, stabilises blood sugar, and also improves mood.
A note of all these good stuffs indicate that the sole ingredient in chocolate comes from only one place, which is cocoa.Chocolate which has 70 percent or higher amount of cocoa in it ,is considered best.
But milk chocolate has higher concentration of sugar than cocoa.
The intake of these sweet chocks should follow his recommended guidelines for best results. This delectable piece of chocolate should be eaten 20 minutes before lunch or dinner,as well as five minutes after these meals.
"The little piece of wonderful, rich dark chocolate at the end of your meal....stabilises the sugar onset in your bloodstream,so that you have more of that blood sugar more often throughout the afternoon,so you're not just hungry," he explained.
The warning note underlying these guidelines is that the chocolate should be eaten in small portions, such as just a square of it each time.

MONDAY BLUES...
The blue sky streaked with the blothches of white clouds, swaying with the breeze and sunshine from the start of the day.But the bluish tinge of Monday keeps me craving for a languished start as the mind also relinquishes the activity of the day.
The house is empty as the other two members leave for their respective works, allocating loads of mess and chore for me.The loneliness and serenity of the house resonates a pang of despair until the nest is replenished with clamouring noise and high-pitched rhapsody, embracing love and abundant activity.
The slothful mind and body are overcast with a spell which drags them to temporal and spatial inactivity, similar to the lotos eater.

"
| All round the coast the languid air did swoon, | 5 |
| Breathing like one that hath a weary dream. | |
| Full-faced above the valley stood the moon; | |
| And, like a downward smoke, the slender stream | |
| Along the cliff to fall and pause and fall did seem." Extract from Alfred Lord Tennyson's THE LOTOS-EATERS. |

I WANT TO FLY
" The boundless wings,
keep soaring high,
I want to fly,
through the azure sky."
These were the lines I wrote for myself after watching a spectacular event at the Singapore Air show 2014.The show was last held in 2010 and after a hiatus of four years,it returned to the venue with enchanting and enhancing performances,at Changi Exhibition Centre. The main purpose of the event was to execute trade and business pertaining to aerospace industry and also make such events accessible to the public view in an area which is otherwise restricted.
The Singapore Air show claims to be the largest in Asia and globally a very important aerospace and defence exhibition .This exhibition houses top aerospace companies from all over the world who exhibit their latest state-of-the-art systems and equipment, together with their related technologies and developments. This show is also a platform for high- level conferences like --the Singapore Aviation Leadership Summit and the Asia Pacific Security Conference ,a bid to build a network between the international government and military delegates. The trade was organized from 11th till 14th Feb,while 15th and 16th of February was open to public view.

This is a flight of planes performing acrobatics in the sky.
Me and my family were lucky to get the ticket for Sunday show which started from 9:30 in the morning and lasted till 5 pm in the evening. When we reached the hotspot, thousands of
spectators were swarming around the gallery while some were seated at the plaza. But nothing seem to undermine their enthusiasm, even at the face of the scorching Sun.My child managed to occupy a space for standing properly while myself and my husband huddled through the crowd just to find a place for us to rest our feet.
The iconic Commentary box from where the commentator announces the beginning of the show and the aircraft details as it hits the sky.
The ever spanning sky, stretching far and wide was welcoming me with endless delight. When I looked at the sky, beating the Sun's glare, neither I could see the horizon nor the nadir. The Straits of Johor was gurgling beneath, creating waves and ripples at every move of the wind and changing the colours of the water from light green, green to a hue of greyish blue.
It was sharp 3pm when the first fighter plane zoomed through the sky rolling from one side to another, doing somersault so smoothly and diligently like a child playing peek-a-boo in an green field. The entire crowd was gazing at the sky. Fearlessly, one after another airplanes circumnavigated the open sky ,then followed a sqaudron of aircrafts which reigned over the blue firmament in order to mesmerize the audience with their adept acrobatics. The thunderous sounds of their flight were giving the special effects which were more laudable than painful. To commemorate Valentine's day the pilots also crafted a heart shape in the sky darting with Cupid's arrow...No wonder we could shout that "Love is in the air".
Apart from this show, the rear end of the open ground was packed with different kinds of aircrafts with different details to enrich their knowledge of aerospace. They were also subject of photo shoot as many of the spectators fulfilled their desire of a dream flight. My enthusiastic child was reluctant to play the pilot's role,so we only clicked few pictures to keep as a memento and also to beautify my treasure box.
This ornament of my treasure box is too precious.
FIRST STEP
Life is always a mystery laden with experiences pleasant and unpleasant.Shedding the unwanted thoughts,I have mustered enough courage to start with the pleasant moments of life.
I grew up in Kolkata,India and after marriage,I am flown to a foreign land.
"BLOGGING" is a pleasant thing that life has presented to us in the form of technology. To create my own blog is an interesting thing indeed.
Here ,I stop to recall the famous lines of Tennyson's ULYSSES:
"How dull it is to pause,to make an end,
To rust unburnished, not to shine in use!
As though to breath were life."
